Kinsearch Registry is a registry for those who have been adopted or are the result of an assisted reproductive process and wish to locate any biological siblings they may have, wherever they may be in the world. The Registry uses a databank of participants’ DNA profiles to find and match a registrant with any half or full biological sibling registered in the bank. The Registry may also be used to locate biological parents if they register in the databank.

The Registry was formed by the Center for Information and Research on Adoption, Inc.,a nonprofit 501c(3) organization dedicated to providing information and sponsoring research for the furtherance of adoption and an understanding of the adoption experience. After exhaustive research and study of the technology, ethics and social ramifications involved in searching for and reuniting biological family members, the Registry chose the testing laboratories and technological expertise of Orchid Biosciences, Inc., a NASDAQ listed company that runs the largest DNA lab in the United States, to house and maintain its DNA databank.

The Registry has benefited from the expertise and advice of numerous various professionals and resources – in bioethics, gene bank projects and DNA technology, international relations, gene counseling, adult adoptee searches and reunions, and child development and counseling – in forming the Registry’s program. This program includes the strictest of testing protocols, heightened privacy and security procedures, and professional counseling assistance to answer questions, explain procedures and assist families in the matching and reunion process. The Registry’s Advisory Board includes many professionals from the adoption and science community to advise on appropriate procedures and policies.
